Our History
Midwest Refrigeration Systems, Inc., has been serving the ammonia refrigeration industry for over 50 years. Originally known as Gas Applied Systems, our name has changed but our commitment to our customers remains the same.
In the 1960’s, Glenn Schneider began Gas Applied Systems Company because he recognized the need for specialized engineering in the ammonia refrigeration industry in Southwest Michigan. Gas Applied Systems offered refrigeration engineering and design and then expanded into equipment and parts sales. This combination of designing systems and supplying equipment has become a notable trademark of Midwest Refrigeration Systems.
In 1986, Brian Allison joined the Gas Applied Systems team. His background includes obtaining an HVAC degree from Ferris State University, working in sales and service for a refrigeration contractor, and being part of a research and development team for a worldwide manufacturer of refrigeration equipment.
Brian became the owner/president of the company in 1987 and changed the business name to Midwest Refrigeration Systems. Glenn phased out his involvement over that year, as Brian took the helm. In 1991, Midwest officials incorporated in the State of Michigan.
